Alison Dearborn's Biography

Contemporary Representations of our Animal Kingdom

Alison paints visual representations of the passage of time. They explore the ancient and mythical connections between mankind and the animal world. Her cave like figures, inspired by the ancient cave drawings of France, are both physically and spiritually a part of our animal kingdom. Her use of color evokes a sense of day and night, and the cycles of the seasons. In addition, by applying thin layers of translucent acrylic, much like a water colorist, she allows background to permeate the subjects. Alison builds organic textures to resemble the actual look of animals etched in stone.
